Crosby Hanna assisted in the replacement of the Wascana Outdoor Pool and playground for the City of Regina. The landscape design scope covered three main areas: supporting spaces for the pool, a new spray pad, and a revitalized playground. A primary project goal was to ensure spaces and play areas were inclusive and accessible; Crosby Hanna worked with equipment suppliers to achieve this goal. Because of the facility’s location in Wascana Park, Crosby Hanna took care to assess the existing vegetation to understand and mitigate the impact of the new work on the mature Wascana Park landscape. The design also considered how a mixture of site furnishings, unshaded lawn, and shaded lawn could support the various needs of visitors as they relaxed outside the pool. The results of this collaborative design project have been a success: the pool opened to the public in the summer of 2023 and has quickly become a popular local attraction.
