The City of Yorkton retained Crosby Hanna to prepare an updated Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw to complement their growing community and ensure they had the tools in place for encouraging responsible and sustainable growth. Extensive public participation, background research, assessment, and demographic projection culminated in a beautiful and powerful guiding document for the community’s next few decades, entitled Our City: Our Future. The Official Community Plan and accompanying Zoning Bylaw will guide planning and development in the community as it grows to over 35,000 people. Economic development, downtown revitalization, residential diversity, sustainability, active transportation,and cooperative planning are some of the fundamentals upon which the Official Community Plan is based.
Our City: Our Future received the 2015 Excellence in Planning Award from the Saskatchewan Professional Planners Institute.
