To celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday, the MosaiCanada 150 project at Jacques Cartier Park in Gatineau, Quebec hosted an exhibition of 32 horticultural artworks consisting of 120 structures. The RCMP Heritage Centre in Regina became the permanent home of a depiction of a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer dressed in red serge on a horse, a nod to Saskatchewan’s role in training cadets for service in communities across the country. The structure measures at 14’ tall and consists of 13,000 plants and flowers. Crosby Hanna & Associates was engaged to create the structure’s setting, and led a team of subconsultants from detailed design through contract administration to produce a design that included concrete planters, decorative planting beds, site furniture, interpretive panels, decorative lighting, and irrigation for the sculpture and planting beds.
